Virginia Craft Beer Month
Hey RVAers, hope you’re in the mood for something ice cold and frothy all month long because August has just been proclaimed Virginia Craft Beer Month and we’re serving up the best events Richmond has to offer.
The celebration is a joint effort put on by the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild and Virginia Tourism.
Sedona Taphouse in the Westchester Commons shopping center in Midlothian is kicking things off with a Hardywood beer tap takeover tonight from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Hardywood is carrying on the party for beer lovers far and wide with a Hop Harvest Fest this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. No BS Brass Band will perform at the brewery to keep the party rocking. Don’t forget the food truck court will be rolling into the Ownby Lane Brewery again this Thursday so if you missed it last week make sure you go check it out there’s quite a few tasty vendors to sample!. Hardywood will also have its Virginia Strawberry brew on tap and if that doesn’t tantalize your taste buds I don’t know what will. http://www.hardywood.com/content/hardywood-hop-harvest-fest-2012
The Tobacco Company has committed to 6 Virginia draft beers all month long in celebration of the event. Expect beers from Blue Mountain Legend’s, Wild Wolf, St. George, O’Connor Brewing, and the Hardywood Singel. http://www.thetobaccocompany.com/events.php
For the hardcore beer lover, Capital Ale House is offering Beer 101, a Belgian beer class Saturday August 18 for $15 at its downtown location. Learn a little something while you throw back a few! You can purchase tickets here. http://www.capitalalehouse.com/news/beerevents.php
The Camel in Richmond is also getting in on the beer action, using all of its 28 taps for Virginia beers including Devils Backbone Vienna Lager, Bold Rock Virginia Apple Hard Cider, Bull & Bones Maroon Effect Brown Ale and a ton of other tasty VA brews. http://www.facebook.com/thecamelrva
There’s also Virginia Craft Brewers Festival in Nelson County at Devil’s Backbone Brewery for those who are looking to venture a little outside the city to quench their thirst.
Keep checking back on the site all month long for the latest local craft beer events or submit your own if you find any that we’ve missed!
If you’re looking for something a little fun to go along with your beer drinking; check out Richmond Cornhole. That’s right. A local entrepreneur has taken the college game and hosts tournaments at local bars and other venues around Richmond. A tournament is coming up August 11 so go sign up to get in on the action before all the spots are taken! http://usacorntoss.com/
The city isn’t all frothy hops this month, its also getting a little fruity. The 29th annual Carytown Watermelon Festival is this Sunday August 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The free event will have over 60 bands and 25 food vendors. http://www.carytownrva.org/watermelon.php
Since it’s the beginning of Virginia Craft Beer Month, we here at Rockstar Rated would love to know what the craft beer lovers are guzzling these days. Tell us what your favorite Virginia Beer is or let us know your favorite beer to crack open after a hard day.
